Call for Application: “The state of the art on the history and memory surrounding the storming and repossession of the Palace of Justice in Colombia” The Chair for Peace Studies at the Justus Liebig University Giessen and CAPAZ are please to call upon researchers in the social sciences and humanities to prepare a paper on the state of the art of the history and memory of the events of the storming and recapture of the Palace of Justice in Colombia in November 1985. The paper will be part of a CAPAZ and JLU Giessen led research project on events involving assaults on power in Latin America, with the takeover of the Palace of Justice in Colombia as the central theme. Terms and conditions:
  • Researchers must produce a 30-40 page document on the state of the art of the events at the Palace of Justice in Colombia, focusing on the progress made, but also on the historical gaps or questions and their consequences for historical memory in Colombia.
  • The document must be written in Spanish.
  • The work can be conducted individually or in groups.
  • The deadline for submission is June 1, 2021.
  • Payment for writing the document is 2.500,00 € (two thousand five hundred Euros), which will be awarded on the basis of a grant agreement.
  • Depending on the assessment of the CAPAZ Editorial Board, the document may eventually be published as part of the CAPAZ Working Paper series.
Eligibility. Applicants must:
  • Hold a master’s degree in history, literature, sociology, social sciences, political science, or related fields.
  • Demonstrate previous experience in research on history and memory, as well as ethical standards and principles in social science research.
  • Have consolidated experience in research on the conflict or armed violence in Colombia.

Convocatoria: “Estado del arte sobre la historia y la memoria en torno a la toma y retoma del Palacio de Justicia en Colombia” La cátedra de Estudios de Paz de la Universidad Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen y el Instituto Colombo-Alemán para la Paz – CAPAZ convocan a investigadoras e investigadores en Ciencias Sociales o Humanidades a la elaboración de un documento sobre el estado del arte en torno a la historia y la memoria de los hechos de la toma y retoma del Palacio de Justicia en Colombia en noviembre de 1985. Dicho documento será parte integral de un proyecto de investigación liderado por el Instituto CAPAZ y la JLU Gießen acerca de eventos de asaltos al y/o del poder en América Latina, tomando como eje central los sucesos del Palacio de Justicia en Colombia. Bases de la convocatoria:
  • Elaboración de un documento de 30 a 40 páginas sobre el estado de arte en torno los sucesos del Palacio de Justicia en Colombia, con especial foco en los avances, pero también en los vacíos o interrogantes históricos y sus consecuencias para la memoria histórica en Colombia.
  • El documento debe ser escrito y presentado en español.
  • El trabajo podrá realizarse individualmente o en grupo.
  • El plazo para la entrega del documento es el 1 de junio de 2021.
  • La remuneración total para la elaboración del documento es de 2.500,00 € (dos mil quinientos Euros), que se otorgarán con base en un acuerdo de beca.
  • Dependiendo de la evaluación del Comité Editorial del Instituto CAPAZ, eventualmente el documento podrá ser publicado en la serie de Documentos de Trabajo del Instituto.
Requisitos:
  • Título de maestría en Historia, Literatura, Sociología, Ciencias Sociales, Ciencias Políticas, o afines.
  • Demostrar experiencia previa en investigación sobre historia y memoria, así como estándares y principios éticos en investigación en Ciencias Sociales.
  • Tener experiencia consolidada en investigación sobre el conflicto o violencia armada en Colombia.
